this cave is one of the best paintings of ajanta caves. it is a painting depicting the scene of intercourse between shiva and parvati. the figure is shown partially clad. her right arm is spread on his right shoulder. she wears a headdress. she is holding on her left hand. he is holding a weapon on his left shoulder. the background is shown in a typical malabar style on the north wall.
the southern face of this cave is a greater feature. here we find the famous image of daksha yaga in a pale blue wall. the god of three worlds is seen in the back part of the cave with his arms opened. in front of him is an umbrella with a central support, (roof). in the cave on his left side is another umbrella. right on his right side are a number of long umbrellas. the vedic hymns on his left and on the right are also shown in the cave. this cave is dated to 5th century and was painted by a 20th century artist. today it is one of the best paintings of the cave, and a major attraction of the ajanta caves.
this painting was done by kasar doored artist of central school in 17th century a.d. it was created in the royal palace of shri vikramaditya. the scene is of a garden in the palace where four bird is depicted. the birds in distant viewed looks similar to the characters seen in the painting of sri-mahamaya. the painting is complex in the sense that it represents itself as the kings garden. it is filled with variety of plants and flowers. the dominant color of this painting is green. for this painting the artist had made a study of landscape. although the artist was called kasar doore, but he wasnt a craftsman. the painting includes instruction of execution in the form of a guide to the color harmony of different birds. the technique employed is kasar door \"grappa.
